The Wild Jungle and Salt Toothpaste

January 16 2010

Last night when everyone was climbing into bed and getting comfortable one of the British girls our age cried out that something had stung her hand, her friend shook out her thick blankets that were provided for us and found an average sized brown and opaque scorpion. While it met its certain death it had done a great job at putting making the rest of us paranoid to go to sleep.

I guess the jungle is wild after all.

I kept thinking, how odd is it the chances that one of us out of 11 would encounter something potentially deadly in the jungle like this, not a low chance I think, but it was eerie to think of how easily I could have felt that sting instead of this other girl.
Needless to say none of us slept very well.

Maewong waterfall...
We hiked our way through the hill tribe village again, bought some authentic scarves, and headed down the mountain towards civilization. On our way down we stopped to see the Maewong waterfall and go on another bamboo raft ride, this one more white water rafting style. We couldn’t bring our cameras as they would have gotten wet, but it was amazingly beautiful and the images of my memory remind me of an un-animated version of Fern Gully…

Elena and I went on a hunt to find a new guest house to stay at instead of the “Whore House,” it proved to be a successful journey as we are now sitting in a spacious, cleaner, and more centrally located guest house.

Then we had Mexican food, and boy was it fantastic after all the meals of rice and curry we’ve had.

And I accidently bought salt toothpaste last night, who knew that existed?
