Seafood Pringles and Benji

january 22 2010
today we happened to sleep in pretty late, the first time in weeks that we havent naturally woken up around 9am, we slept in til noon 30.
we decided to have a quick brunch and get straight to tanning. elena ended up burning quite a bit on her first day, my upper back burned a little, and a little of brittney's butt cheeks burned. we also negotiated with a beach wanderer selling sun dresses for two dresses that were 5 dollars a piece, and considering the quality of these quick sun dresses, they easily would have been 3x as much in the u.s.a. it was a good day. :)

after a cool lizzard shower that smelled like poopoo water, we went on a journey out from our hotel to find a Big C supermarket. brittney and i found a muchly needed addition to our current small wardrobe: small white tanktops for 79 baht = around 2$ each. quite the steal. we also bought a ton of fruit, large waters, cured salami and cheeses with a small baguette and sprite for a picnic dinner down by the ocean. while it was a more expensive dinner than we anticipated (but still cheaper than a u.s. picnic lunch of this quantity would have cost), it was one of our sweetest moments, and it made me really really happy.

adam, when we were in the supermarket i saw these and the soft-shelled crab reminded me of you. i miss our red lobster dates, but i miss more the potential of having a seafood mate here in thailand, the other girls don't eat seafood, and its a crime to enjoy seafood alone! i think there are some sea delicacies to be had here, its all so so fresh.
anyway, a fun novelty...

beach picnic...

finding someone who can maneuver a high end digital camera that isnt lcd screen oriented is almost unheard of. we couldnt find anyone to take a decent photo...so we got make-shifty: the girls and the bottom of my dress...

we also had a really sweet dog, who we mis-genderedly named benji, come sit to protect us while we muched on our last bits of cheese. i really really loved this dog, like every mangey unkempt thai dog i see, i wanted to put her in my bag and bring her home!

we spent the rest of the night chatting, watching a slightly blurred old episode of ER, painting our ever growing nails shades of pearl, orange, and pink, all colors rightly suiting our different personalities...
