Beaches Fade Away

February 07 2010
our southern beach travelling is officially over. we are now bound for the central and northern parts of thailand for our last hoo-rah. we have, starting tomorrow, 12 more days left in thailand. we are off to see the golden triangle in the north and breathe in our last gulps of thai culture before its bon voyage for a very long time...
we left for the mainland today, the krabi part of mainland where we had a pretty scroungy guesthouse room. the fan on the top of the ceiling sounded like it was going to fall through the roof, and at one point a weird insect its buzzing screaming through our room, came through the door and bounced and dive-bombed our beds, the walls, and backpacks. hayhem broke and elena and brittney both started screaming and backing themselves into the opposite corner of the room like a bunch of ninnies. i had to be the one to pull out my rambo gear and battle it out the door. then i pulled out my insect scientist gear and decided it was a crossed bred insect resembling a roach and locust. it was pretty funny and a pretty big moment in our night before sleep.

we went to a weird food/bar joint down the road, where the girls had spicy pad thai, i had rice and prawns and a side of uneaten mashed potatoes that tasted like butterscotch. eventually the old men of the bar started smoking the ganje, so it was time to leave quick as there's no way I AM getting slammed with a drug charge. have you heard about thai prisons?!
